Current teaching and research interests

Deborah Whalen, RN, BSN, CHPN, OCN's nursing career has focused on oncology and palliative care nursing. She has an interest in patient and nurse communication and was selected to attend the COMFORT Communication Course for Oncology Nurses in Washington, DC in 2015.

She has served as co-director for the Art and Science of Palliative Nursing course for the past two years. Ms. Whalen is currently enrolled in a master's program, focused on the care of the adult and geriatric patient populations, though she expects to continue practicing in Palliative and Oncology nursing upon completion of the program.
